Mexico City, April 29, 2026— Save the Children Mexico announces a milestone in the protection of children’s rights: the launch of the first child-friendly privacy notice, specifically designed for children, adolescents, and their families.
This innovative tool was developed in collaboration with internationally recognized artist and illustrator Tomoyo Hiroishi, facilitated by the global law firm White & Case, which will also sponsor the printing of 5,000 copies for distribution across the country.

A privacy notice is a fundamental document established under Mexico’s Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties, aimed at guaranteeing individuals’ right to understand how their personal data is collected, used, stored, and protected. For children, this right is especially important, as they require enhanced protection mechanisms.
Traditionally, these documents are written in technical and legal language, making them difficult to understand. For this reason, Save the Children Mexico developed, for the first time, an accessible and child-friendly version that clearly explains:
- What personal data is
- How it is used
- What their rights are
- How their information is protected
“Protecting personal data is not only a legal requirement — it is essential to safeguarding the dignity, safety, and trust of children and their families. This initiative reflects our commitment to making information accessible and empowering children and their families to understand and exercise their rights,” said Ivonne Piedras, Communications & Campaigns Director at Save the Children Mexico.
Through her illustrations, Tomoyo Hiroishi translates complex concepts into a warm and engaging visual language, helping children better understand the value of their personal information.
“It was an honor and joy to be part of this project and contribute my illustrations and editorial design skills to achieve Save the Children Mexico’s goal to create a visually accessible Privacy Notice brochure. Taking on the challenge of creating Intuitive, comprehensive, and approachable visuals that reflect legal content for readers, especially children of all abilities, was unquestionably an enriching experience and a valuable collaboration”, said Tomoyo Hiroishi.
Narciso Campos, partner at White & Case, added: “This initiative marks a significant milestone. It is the first time a legal instrument such as a privacy notice has been adapted into a format that is truly accessible for children — setting a new benchmark for institutional communication and data protection in the social sector.”
This collaboration reinforces the importance of cross-sector partnerships in bringing legal tools closer to the public in innovative, rights-based ways. Because understanding their rights is the first step to exercising them, this effort aims to ensure that every child in Mexico grows up informed, protected, and confident that their voice and their information matter.
